Meet the Team
Jane is a professional project manager and outdoor enthusiast. She is a seasoned world traveller, having visited many of the continents of the world. She has lived and worked in America and spent two years in New Zealand working at the University of Waikato as a tutor and researcher, which she fitted in between skiing, mountaineering and exploring the islands.
In addition to an honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham she has an MSc in Medical Statistics from the University of Southampton. Jane also holds first aid, massage and catering qualifications. She has worked for Astra Zeneca and the University of Aberdeen in medical research and has co-authored several research papers in medical journals. Jane works as a statistical consultant for various companies and currently organises music gigs through her own company Finzean Gigs as well as working for Firetrail.
Jane has competed in many cycling and running races. She has skied and climbed in various regions of the world and enjoys cycling, running, sailing, rock climbing and mountaineering, leaving no time for spare time.
Within Firetrail, Jane is responsible for accounts, admin, statistics and surveys and the smooth running of registration and catering at events. She is the friendly redhead you'll meet during registration at our events!
Eilidh Connolly – Marketing and PR
Eilidh originally hails from Royal Deeside and grew up with a fondness for outdoor sports, including skiing and hillwalking and has in more recent years, added rock climbing and competing in sprint triathlons to her repertoire.
She holds a BA Hons in European Business Studies from Glasgow Caledonian University. As part of this degree, Eilidh studied for a year in Berlin and is therefore fluent in German. She also holds a professional postgraduate qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
Eilidh has worked on several sizeable marketing projects across a spectrum of industries in the UK and Australia, including Finance & Insurance for MORE TH>N, Engineering for AECOM and latterly focusing on event marketing for Cancer Research UK and Activ.
Eilidh has been the PR & Marketing team leader on significant national events including: the 50,000 participant Perth City to Surf Marathon for Activ; social events for the Queen’s state visit to Australia in 2011; and annual charity garden parties for the Governor of Western Australia.
Eilidh is Firetrail’s marketing and PR lead. Eilidh manages press and media hosting, press releases, PR events and advertising. You’ll often see Eilidh microphone in hand working as our event MC.
Tom Piper - Project Manager & Environmental Consultant
Tom is a seasoned and qualified (PRINCE II) project manager, stakeholder engagement and environmental professional with extensive experience of the marine pollution and marine leisure sectors. Tom develops, plans and seeks funding to deliver diverse projects and events.
Tom has a BSc (Hons) in Geography from The University of Glasgow and a Masters in Environmental Studies from The University of Strathclyde. He loves hillwalking, having summited nearly half of the Munros, any form of cycling, and takes part in at least one sea swimming challenge each year. He is a RLSS qualified Lifeguard and SFA accredited youth football coach.
Tom’s work experience includes roles as a environmental consultant for BRE, assistant workshop manager at Ardfren Yacht Centre in Argyll, managing yacht repair and maintenance projects and as the UK coordinator for KIMO UK, where he managed large grant funded projects and lobbied on marine pollution issues.
In addition to his work with Firetrail Tom currently sits on the Scottish Marine Tourism Development Group and is The Crown Estate’s representative for the East Coast of Scotland.
Tom’s role with Firetrail is predominantly project management, environmental compliance and funding. However, you will often see Tom acting as a team leader at our events.
